Sporting KC's main supporters group has called on Peter Vermes to leave the club, as the two-time MLS champions are without a win in their first six games of the campaign.
Vermes has been in charge since 2009, and signed a five-year extension in 2023. FC Dallas beat Kansas City 2-1 on Saturday.

In a scathing open letter, the KC Cauldron & South Stand Supporters Club criticized Vermes and ownership for recent struggles:
"We cannot and will not accept this level of mediocrity. We show up, we sing, we travel, we pour our time, money and hearts into this team because we believe in what it should stand for. But belief alone does not win matches, and unwavering support does not excuse repeated underperformance. The Sporting KC standard has been abandoned, and we will not sit idly by while this club fades into irrelevance… Peter Vermes must resign as manager. This is not a request – it is a demand from a fan base that refuses to watch its club wither under outdated tactics and unchallenged authority."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Vermes brought success to Kansas City in his early years at the club. He won the U.S. Open Cup in his third full season in charge, and then claimed MLS Cup the year after.
Open Cup titles followed in 2015 and 2017. Since then, though, the club has failed to advance past the Western Conference semifinals.

It remains to be seen whether the board take decisive action on Vermes' position at the club. Their next game is a rival match with St. Louis CITY next Saturday.
