Tottenham failed to sign a single player in the summer transfer window but Mauricio Pochettino is set to change his stance heading into January.
The Lilywhites were heavily linked with Jack Grealish during the close-season but Aston Villa stood firm by refusing to sell the 23-year-old, who has since signed a lucrative five-year extension with the Championship promotion hopefuls.
While that does not necessarily rule out an exit, Spurs will have to pay a significantly higher fee to land the boyhood Villa fan and Mauricio Pochettino may now have switched his attention towards other midfield targets.

Spurs have since been named amongst a host of Premier League clubs vying for the signature of Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips, an academy graduate at Elland Road who has been ever-present for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.
The 22-year-old would probably cost significantly less than Grealish and his defensive style is much better suited to Pochettino’s side, as he would be the ideal long-term replacement for Belgium international Mousa Dembele.
