D.C. United has revealed their new away kit for the 2025 MLS season, officially named the “Soul Kit.” The design draws inspiration from Washington D.C.'s rich Funk, Soul, and Go-Go musical heritage, embodying the city’s energy, passion, and expressive spirit. The kit channels the musical legacy that has shaped the city’s past, present and future to create a fusion of evolution.
“This kit is more than just a uniform—it’s a statement of identity, culture, and pride,” said Danita Johnson, President of Business Operations at D.C. United. “D.C. has always been a place of resilience and artistic expression, and this design captures the energy of the city in a way that fans and players alike can embrace.”

Created by Adidas, D.C. United's 2025 "Soul Kit" is a bold celebration of Washington D.C.'s rich musical heritage and thus features a light beige base color with a vibrant accent design. The accent pattern includes red, blue, orange, purple, and brown colors, flowing down each side of the torso and appearing on the armpits. The United crest is on the left chest and incorporates the accent design while the primary sponsor, Guidehouse, is across the chest in gold and pink beige lettering.

Despite Christian Benteke winning the MLS Golden Boot with 23 goals in the league, D.C. United finished 10th in the Eastern Conference and missed out on the MLS Cup playoffs in 2024. That makes it the fifth consecutive year that the club have missed the postseason, although this time it went down to the final day, where a loss against Charlotte FC ruled them out of contention.
Their 2025 preseason schedule is nearly wrapped, but the Black and Red do have one more fixture on their preseason calendar before they host Toronto FC in their MLS opener on Feb. 22.
