Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho sprung a surprise with his team news on Sunday after naming Marouane Fellaini as his side’s captain for the visit to Sunderland.
The Belgium international hasn’t always been a regular under Mourinho this term, but he led the side out in what turned out to be a comfortable 3-0 win against the Premier League’s bottom side.
Fellaini’s only real contribution was a booking for kicking the ball away, although he now has a 100% win record as skipper of the Red Devils with a result that kept United in contention to secure a Champions League spot at the end of the season.
Man United supporters were quick to have their say on the showing of the controversial midfielder via social media, and the majority were keen for the 29-year-old to never be captain again.
