De Bruyne disclosed that initial discussions regarding a contract renewal had begun before the season started but were paused after he suffered an injury in September. This setback sidelined him for two months, during which all negotiations were put on hold.

With his contract expiring in June, De Bruyne will be free to engage in talks with foreign clubs starting from January 1. The midfielder, who has previously been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and MLS, admitted there has been no progress in renewing his deal.

When asked about the current state of talks with Manchester City, De Bruyne stated plainly: “No. Nothing yet.”

De Bruyne has faced significant challenges this season due to an abdominal injury that disrupted his campaign. Explaining the nature of his ailment, he said: “It’s pubis. It’s a bit of everything. It’s not nice, but there’s not a lot you can do about it, just wait. I hope to get better now.”

When quizzed about his recovery, De Bruyne said: "I don’t know. It’s hard to say. With the injury I had, I took a while and then I had four games in ten days which was hard. I’m happy for today.”
